If you have an IUD are you really protected fully from ejaculation? My boyfriend cums inside of me and its starting to make me nervous.
In terms of preventing pregnancy, the IUDs are more than 99% effective. The copper IUD prevents pregnancy by impairing the movement of sperm so it can’t meet the egg, and it also impairs implantation into the uterus so that a pregnancy can’t form. The progestin IUDs thicken cervical mucus so that the sperm can’t travel into the uterus, it thins the lining of the uterus to impair implantation, and also may inhibit the sperm from reaching the egg. If you are concerned about sexually transmitted infections, you can always use condoms as well.
