An old condom dropped out of my vag this morning! I had no tell-tale signs (odor, discharge) but I’m obviously concerned as the last time I had sex was 3 weeks ago. Any recos about how to avoid this in the heat of the moment, or check afterward to ensure there’s nothing in there, or anything I should be doing now to keep my vagina healthy?
You definitely aren’t alone! Here’s a few things to help make it less likely that this will happen again.
1) Make sure the condom is rolled all the way down and snug around the shaft of the penis, with no extra material hanging or bunching up. ⠀
2) Use lube the safest way possible. If you use lube inside the condom to make sex more pleasurable for the wearer, only put one drop. If you’re on the naturally drier side or use hormonal birth control, vaginal dryness can create drag on the condom so use a body-safe lube on the outside of the condom and/or inside your vagina. ⠀
3) Slide a penis ring around the base of their penis, over the condom for extra hold. ⠀
4) Always confirm the condom is out of you, even if it’s the next morning. Get a visual on it!⠀
As for taking care of your vagina, I recommend being vigilant for any abnormal changes in discharge or smell. You can also add in a vagina-friendly probiotic, watch your sugar intake, and make sure that you’re only using body-safe sex toys & lubricants.
